Kitchen Co-Lab

Kitchen Co-Lab celebrates cultural diversity by bringing in home cooks from across the community to share their recipes and retell their experiences of living in Australia.

Since early January 2019, Kitchen Co-Lab has traveled across 5 countries, collaborated with 8 amazing cooks and organisations, cooked 9 cultural dishes, engaged over 100 participants, and been inspired by countless stories.

As a participant of Kitchen Co-Lab, you learn to make delicious dishes that you’ll cook up for lifetime, while engaging with different cultures and organisations in the community!

This project aims to improve social inclusion of those from a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background through having CALD chefs host our cooking classes.

What to expect when you come to a Kitchen Co-Lab Class?

An immersive cultural experience like no other!

At Kitchen Co-Lab, we combine traditional home cooking with the art of story telling to provide a holistic cultural experience in the heart of South-West Sydney.

During each class you will:

  • Learn how to cook a traditional cultural dish
  • Hear stories from the cook’s home country
  • Share a delicious meal you just cooked with new friends (and take home any left overs)

Kitchen Co-Lab Launch

In mid-January we had our Kitchen Co-Lab (KCL) launch. We made a Vietnamese savoury pancake ( Bánh Xèo) and shared an afternoon of story telling with out refugee chef Cie Cie.

We were fortunate enough to be supported by  representatives from federal, state and local government, Charter Hall, Mounties and local surgeons.
